Build your own Roll-Off Roof observatory with EasyRail and EasySlider
Easily turn your garden shed, barn, or new build into a Roll-Off Roof observatory.
Discover the Perfect Solution for your Observatory with EasyRails and EasySlider
A reliable sliding roof forms the foundation of a good amateur observatory. With EasyRail and EasySlider, you build a strong and smooth rail system that allows the entire roof to slide open and closed easily. The system is suitable for both new builds and for converting an existing garden shed or barn into an observatory.
Why choose a roll-off roof?
With this type of observatory, the entire roof of the building slides away, giving the telescope a virtually unobstructed view of the night sky. After observing, you slide the roof back, protecting the telescope and equipment from the elements. A sliding observatory roof is therefore a practical solution for both visual observations and astrophotography, and it can be built relatively easily yourself.
Why choose EasyRail and EasySlider for your Roll-Off Roof?
- Specially developed for observatories: EasyRail and EasySlider together form the rail system on which the roof moves smoothly and reliably.
- Modular system: the length of the EasyRail and the number of EasySliders can be tailored to the dimensions and weight of the roof.
- Easy installation: EasyRail is mounted on the support structure, and the EasySliders are attached to the roof structure.
- For new builds and existing buildings: suitable for a newly built observatory, but also for converting an existing garden shed or barn.
From garden shed or barn to Roll-Off Roof observatory
Do you want to build a Roll-Off Roof observatory yourself or convert an existing garden shed or barn into an observatory? With EasyRail and EasySlider, you can assemble the rail system that fits the dimensions and weight of your roof. With our free Roll-Off Roof Designer, you can easily determine which rails, sliders, and parts you need for your project.
Would you like to open and close the roof electrically later? EasyRail and EasySlider can be expanded with an electric drive and roof control. Further automation and integration with observatory software such as N.I.N.A. and ASCOM is also possible. This allows you to start with a manual Roll-Off Roof and further automate the system later.
Which EasyRail and EasySliders do you need?
Every Roll-Off Roof observatory is different. The required length of EasyRail and the number of EasySliders depend, among other things, on the dimensions of your observatory and the roof. With our free Roll-Off Roof Designer, you can enter the dimensions of your design and immediately see which EasyRails, EasySliders, and associated parts you need.
Suitable for both small and large observatories
EasyRail and EasySlider are modular in design, making them suitable for observatories of various sizes. The length of the rails and the number of sliders are tailored to the dimensions and weight of your roof. This ensures you only use the components actually needed for your construction.
Furthermore, you can easily start with a manual sliding roof and expand the system later with an electric drive and automation. This means you don’t have to automate the entire observatory right away, allowing you to expand the system step by step as your needs change.
When designing, it is important to look not only at the length and width of the building, but also at the construction and the expected weight of the roof. With the free Designer, you can quickly gain insight into the required EasyRails, EasySliders, and associated components for your situation.
